This Decision sets management measures for the conservation of fish resources and the involvement of institutions in their adoption and implementation. These management measures for the conservation of fishery resources are aimed at preserving the marine biological resources and the management of the fishing fleet, taking advantage of these resources; ensuring that fishing is ecologically sustainable in the long term and is managed in such a way as to be consistent with the objectives of achieving economic benefits, social and employment and contribute to the availability of food supply; apply the prudent approach to fisheries management and ensure that the use of living marine biological resources restores and maintains populations of fished species at levels capable of produce the maximum sustainable yield; implement the ecosystem-based approach to fisheries management to ensure that fishing activities have a minimal negative impact on marine ecosystems and ensure that fisheries avoid degradation of the marine environment; that, gradually , to eliminate waste on a case-by-case basis, taking into account the best available scientific opinion, avoiding and reducing, as far as possible, accidental captures and gradually ensuring that captures are landed; if necessary, use as well as accidental occupations, without creating a market for these occupations, which are below the minimum size of the reference storage; create the necessary conditions to make the occupation and processing sector and activity (and other, see article 1 for complete list).
