Abstract
This Decision here approves the contents of the Albanian Intersectoral Strategy for Consumer Protection and Market Surveillance for the period from the year 2024 until the year 2030, which is a political document, which puts consumers at its center and aims to empower them to an active role in the market, exercising their rights and power of well-informed choice in purchase of goods and services.
The strategy aims at growth, sustainable and comprehensive development. The Strategy sets issues and projected requirements and objectives as regards different sectors and topics, different services and goods, including: safety of food products, safety of non-food products, quality infrastructure standardization, market surveillance and National Food Authority, State Health Inspectorate, State Inspectorate of Market Supervision, State Technical and Industrial Inspectorate; Legal framework of food and non-food products, l Communications Authority; other sectors such as finance, civil services, water supply sector and other.
This strategic document consists of three main thematic pillars that include all identified primary issues of consumer protection and supervision for the period 2024-2030: I. Product safety, including: food and product safety non-food; drugs for human use; cosmetics; the field of quality infrastructure; market surveillance etc. II. Consumer protection issues not related to security aspects (economic interests), which include: commercial practices; enforcement of consumer rights; conditions of unfairness in contracts, alternative and online dispute resolution; the environment; tourism; digitization etc. III. Information and awareness of consumers and subjects, as well as cooperation inter-institutional and with all other actors: consumer organizations, civil society, business, academics, etc.
