Law no. 14, dated 8 February 2024 on the approval of the National Security Strategy of the Republic of Albania.

This Law here approves the National Security Strategy of the Republic of Albania, which is attached to this text.
The Strategy identifies the main strategic interests of Albania that are the protection and security of the territory covered by clauses of the North Atlantic Treaty, the restoration of peace on the borders of the EU territory, the restoration and the well-functioning of the European security architecture, the fight against terrorism, empowerment at scale of Democracy and Multilateralism, the peaceful resolution of disputes and conflicts between states, restoring the international arms control architecture, global engagement against climate change, increasing energy and food security, joint efforts international to reduce social problems in the countries of origin of waves of immigration towards Europe as well as the strengthening of Albania's role and international commitment as a factor of peace and stability. The Strategy also sets issues and terms regarding different sectors and cross-sectoral interactions all in function of maintenance of the national security and integrity as prerogative; these sectors include energy, several points part of environmental degradation challenge and possible natural disasters and hazards (landslides, floods, fires), civil protection and rescue, public health issues (also diseases and general sanitary threats), food security and safety (The National Food Authority is the institution responsible for its control the entire territory of the country on food safety and consumer protection at all stages of the food chain: import, production, processing, storage and trading of food products, animal feed, agricultural inputs and tobacco-cigarette manufacturing activities, as well as security of animal health at the border points).
