Law on Strategic Investments of Albania 2016.

This Law lays down rules for introducing special favorable, easing or expediting administrative procedures for supporting and providing services to the investors in order to promote and attract strategic domestic and foreign investments in the sectors with a high potential for the development of the Albanian economy. Article 5 lists the basis of public interests to be taken into account while assessing a strategic investment, including creation of jobs, regional and local economic development, development and improvement of conditions and standards for the production of goods and provision of services, increased overall level of safety and quality of citizens’ lives, and protection of the environment and consumers. Strategic sectors are listed in Article 8 and includes energy and mining, transportation, urban waste, tourism, agriculture, fisheries sectors.
