National food security Strategy 2023–2027.

This Albanian National food security Strategy for the programmed period from the year 2023 until the year 2027 outlines the importance of the fact that the health of people is closely related to the health of plants and animals and the common environment and that a clear national policy on agri-food security is fundamental for the effective implementation of "One Health" principles through the food chain from farm to the table. Strengthening the agri-food regulatory system in Albania is necessary to improve protection of consumer health, animal health and plant health. The government of Albania is committed to overcoming the challenges outlined in this text and to support the vision of the development of food and agriculture sectors into competitive, inclusive, adaptable and fully integrated participants in general and global economy.
To ensure a progressive agri-food security policy, the main policy drivers within Albania and globally must be taken into account. It is important to emphasize that the goals of this policy are aligned with the main policies and strategies national and international. The vision for the National Agricultural Security Policy is to contribute to the protection of consumer health, animal health and welfare and plant health, while applied a collaborative and integrative approach to strengthening compliance and regulation agro-food sector. In achieving this vision, it is foreseen that the Albanian government and relevant government bodies actively participate in the process of alignment with the EU acquis on the way towards EU membership and engage with international organizations to ensure full implementation of necessary measures and standards. This policy adopts the "One Health" approach, which recognizes the interrelationships between human, animal and environmental health. This policy covers all stages along the farm-to-table chain, including food and feed safety, animal health and welfare and plant health.
