Government Resolution No. № 27-H validating the minimum standards for the exploitation, remediation and closure of existing and operating landfills in the national territory.

These minimum standards regulate the processes of operation, improvement and closure of solid domestic waste landfills existing and operating in the national territory. These minimum standards are defined for the purpose of ensuring ecologically safe conditions, reducing and neutralizing the negative and dangerous impact of landfills on human health and the environment. Solid domestic waste from residential and public buildings, commercial and public food enterprises, garbage from sanitary cleaning of settlements, construction waste and other types of solid inert waste shall be placed in the landfills. Open burning of garbage in the landfill area shall be prohibited. Landfill operators shall take necessary fire-fighting measures to prevent spontaneous combustion of waste. After unloading of solid household waste, waste leveling and horizontal or near-horizontal compaction should be carried out in the landfill. After compaction, the surface height should not exceed 2.0 m. Each stream of waste placed in the landfill is recorded in the waste receipt register in the exemplary form contained in the Annex.
