Governmental Decision No. 182-N validating the Regulation on State Forest Committee subordinated to the Ministry of Environmental Protection.

State Forest Committee subordinated to the Ministry of Environmental Protection is the authorized state institution in the field of forest management. The Committee shall perform the following tasks: (a) sustainable management of forests, including protection, afforestation and reforestation; (b) implementation of measures to increase the productivity of public forests; (c) protection of biodiversity in public forests; (d) ensuring environmental, social and economic potential of public forests; and (e) supply to the public of reliable information about forest land. The Committee perform the following functions: (a) exercise executive powers in the field of its competence; (b) state registration of forests; (c) development of programs for the effective use of state forest resources, also in cooperation with relevant international organizations; (d) organization of forestry works in state forests; (e) implementation of forest monitoring; (f) organization of state forest management; (g) prevention and detection of forest offences; (h) forest fire prevention arrangements; (i) ecological education; (j) management of protected areas; and (k) agro-forestry.
