Governmental Decree No. 1730-N validating the Regulation on the Agency of Food Safety, its statute and structure.

Agency of Food Safety shall be authorized state institution responsible for ensuring food security and compliance assessment of foodstuffs and veterinarian inspection at the level of local self-government. It shall supervise over the following activities: (a) compliance of foodstuffs with the established quality requirements with a view of consumer protection and prevention of risks for human health; (b) food manufacturing and application of good practices; (c) risk management in the field of food security; (d) food safety at all stages of food chain; (e) state control of business entities operating in the field of food production; (f) control of imported raw materials of animal and plant origin destined for food production; (g) control over import and distribution of veterinary drugs in order to prevent spreading of animal diseases (h) control over packaging of foodstuffs.
