Governmental Decree No. 32 validating the Strategy for anti-bacterial control of veterinary drugs and prophylaxis for the period of 2015-2020.

Strategy for anti-bacterial control of veterinary drugs and prophylaxis for the period of 2015-2020 was prepared in line with the objectives defined by the World Health Organization (WHO) has as its objectives the establishment of a system for control of anti-bacterial drugs stability and anti-bacterial drug management; implementation of epidemiological monitoring system for anti-bacterial drugs; infection control, anti-bacterial injection in veterinary and healthcare organizations; increase the effectiveness of the information system in the organizations providing medical care and services for infection control, antimicrobial control system; introduction of criteria for laboratory testing of anti-bacterial drugs; improvement of legislation on drug circulation aimed at combating anti-bacterial drug resistance; increasing health awareness on anti-bacterial drugs and proper use of anti-bacterial drugs; and promote the rational use of antimicrobials in the agriculture. Particular attention shall be paid to development and application of requirements for the use of feed additives (antibiotics) in livestock breeding. It shall be applicable nationwide and will have multi-sectoral approach (stockbreeding, agriculture and food industry). The Strategy aims and preventing spreading of infectious animal diseases and mitigation of the consequences thereof.
The Strategy shall be implemented by formation of action management system with a view of application of control anti-bacterial drug use and consumption, strengthening information system for monitoring and control of infectious diseases, training and raising awareness of the population related to antimicrobial drug resistance; and improvement of legislative framework and application of WHO recommendations related to anti-bacterial drugs.
Beneficiaries of the Strategy shall be citizens of the Republic of Armenia, professional groups of veterinary specialists, food industry specialists, medical care and service providers, scientific research institutions, higher and secondary specialized educational institutions.
