This Angolan Standard NA2 deals with iodized salt for food use and specifications including iodization and analysis and sampling methods. It was developed in support of the national programme, and prepared based on the Codex Alimentarius standard STAN 150 – 1985 and also based on existing recommendations for regional harmonization. This Angolan standard aims to make food-grade salt available to consumers to help combat iodine deficiency. It applies to salt used as an ingredient in foods, whether for direct sale to the consumer or for use in the manufacture of food products. It also applies to salt used as a carrier for food additives and/or nutrients. Within the scope of this standard, more specific requirements may apply for special needs.
