Executive Decree No. 84/21 approving the Internal Regulation of the National Directorate for Family Policies, Equality and Gender Equity (DNPFIEG) of the Ministry of Social Action, Family and Promotion of Women.

This Executive Decree approves the Internal Regulation of the National Directorate for Family Policies, Equality and Gender Equity (DNPFIEG) of the Ministry of Social Action, Family and Promotion of Women. The Regulation, consisting of 12 articles divided into four Chapters and three Annexes, establishes composition, duties and responsibilities of the above mentioned Directorate entitled to design, coordinate, monitor and support the implementation of public policies in the area of the family, women's rights, gender equality, combating domestic violence and supporting victims of domestic violence.
In particular, DNPFIEG is responsible for: a) Propose policies and strategies for the defense and protection of the family; b) Propose integrated policies aimed at promoting women's rights, equality and gender equity; c) Advocate for the implementation of policies to protect the elderly; d) Develop strategies that contribute to the rescue and preservation of moral, civic and cultural values ​​of Angola; e) Promote interdisciplinary studies on the situation and evolution of the concept of family and gender equality; f) Promote the creation of the gender observatory; g) Promote actions for locating and family reunification; h) Promote programmes of solidarity, mutual support in social and family difficulties, with particular emphasis on the most needy in the communities; i) Promote the creation of spaces for dialogue aimed at the healthy coexistence of families; j) Monitor the evolution of families' socio-economic conditions, and encourage their participation in income-generating activities; k) Advocate for access to credit and micro-credit, with a view to achieving economic autonomy for families; l) Promote awareness-raising and education campaigns that address issues relating to all forms of discrimination against women, equality, gender equity and women's empowerment; m) Develop specific programmes aimed at influencing the reduction of maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality; n) Promote the implementation and dissemination of sexual and reproductive education policies for women and girls; o) Increase social and political awareness of actions aimed at preventing domestic violence; p) Encourage the creation of counseling centres in the community to support victims of domestic violence; q) Promote gender equality and equity in decision-making bodies, and carry out actions for the full integration of women in economic, scientific, professional, cultural and social life; r) Promote the participation of rural women in decision-making bodies and in rural associations and cooperatives, in collaboration with other sectors; s) Disseminate national, regional and international legal instruments related to women's rights; t) Discourage traditional practices that violate the dignity of the human person; u) Develop a system for collecting and analyzing data related to gender participation, etc.
