Abstract
This Ministerial Decision, as provided by Law of Animal Health No. 4/04, prohibits transport and trade of biungulate animals (cattle, goats, sheep, pigs, buffalo, antelope, etc.) and their related products, due to foot and mouth disease that could threaten a severe food security, inside and outside the Municipalities of Cuangar and Menongue, in Kuando Kubango Province, and within the municipalities of Kwanhama, Namacunde and Cuvelai, in Cunene province. It takes into consideration that the infected areas present conditions for the rapid dissemination of the disease, since it is an extensive transhumance zone where animals converge from various parts of southern Angola and northern Namibia looking for pasture and water in the dry season. It also applies for the entry into the country of biungulate animals and their products from northern Namibia Region, in particular from the areas of Ohangwena, Omusati, Oshana, Kunene north, Oshikoto, Kavango and Kavango West.
