Presidential Decree No. 116/21 approving the Statute of the Atomic Energy Regulatory Authority (AREA).

This Presidential Decree, approves the Statute of the Atomic Energy Regulatory Authority (AREA). This Statute, consisting of 30 articles divided into five Chapters and one Annex, establishes composition, duties and responsibilities of the above mentioned Authority, aimed to pursue the objectives of the policy for the use of nuclear energy adopted by the State. AREA is responsible to coordinate, control and supervise activities related to the use of radioactive sources, materials, devices, substances and waste, as well as the actions of the nuclear fuel cycle, referred to in Law No. 4/07 of 5 September, on Atomic Energy and its regulations, in collaboration with other bodies.
