Abstract
The National Development Plan 2023-2027, within the framework of measures to promote agricultural and livestock production, includes as one of its objectives support for agricultural and livestock producers engaged in family food production, by increasing the availability of and improving access to production factors. This Programme to Accelerate the Promotion of Family Farming and Strengthen Food Security, also known as ‘OSI YETU’ 2024-2026 is a result of the technical work carried out by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. The Programme mainly seeks to present measures and actions in the field of expanding technical assistance and facilitating access to credit for family farmers, cooperatives and micro, small and medium-sized enterprises, with a view to mitigating the situations of socio-economic vulnerability, which will be funded by the FADA Strategic Plan (PEFADA/2023-2026). The Programme includes aspects directly linked to the axes, objectives, initiatives and priorities, expected results in terms of production and the support framework for its implementation, namely financial resources, the governance structure and the communication strategy.
The main objectives of this Programme are: Accelerate agricultural production and productivity, as well as the production of market-oriented family forestry products; Strengthen levels of technical training and increase funding for the family farming sub-sector in a decentralized, simple and unbureaucratic manner; Increase the number of jobs, raise family incomes and, consequently, economic growth; Improve levels of food and nutritional security, as well as self-sufficiency, allowing for satisfactory levels of domestic consumption capable of mitigating situations of socio-economic vulnerability.
