Presidential Decree No. 134/24 approving the Statute of the Ministry of Tourism.

This Presidential Decree approves the Statute of the Ministry of Tourism (MINTUR) as the Ministerial Department aiming at formulating, conducting, evaluating and executing the Executive's policy in the field of tourism, and conducting strategies, programmes and projects for the promotion and development of tourism. The Ministry of Tourism has the following duties: a) Define tourism development policy, with a view to contributing to the country's socio-economic and cultural development; b) Promote the country as a tourist and investment destination, by structuring and organizing the national tourist offer; c) Adopt measures for creating jobs and diversifying the economy; d) Promote responsible tourism, based on the principles of environmental, socio-cultural, and economic sustainability and to develop strategies for the regionalization of tourism; e) Formulate, coordinate, support and monitor plans, programmes, projects and actions related to production associated with tourism, as a strategy for diversifying the tourist offer, promoting social inclusion and the generation of employment and income for local populations; f) Encourage cooperatives, entrepreneurship and the formation of networks that promote the sustainability of local tourism initiatives; g) Promoting public access to events advertising cultural, religious and ecological tourism; h) Promote research, innovation, training and professional technical education in the field of tourism, in conjunction with the relevant state bodies; i) Propose programmes to implement investments; j) Disseminate public policies aimed at supporting the fight against sexual exploitation, etc.
