Presidential Decree No. 141/12 approving the Regulation for the prevention and control of National water pollution.

This Presidential Decree approves the Regulation for the prevention and control of National water pollution. This Regulation aims at regulating marine and inland water pollution originated by vessels, platforms and industrial infrastructures performing in water under National jurisdiction. Controls shall be carried out by the Ministry of Environment, which is the competent authority entitled to guarantee the fulfillment of this Regulation. Water pollution controls shall be carried out in particular on hydrocarbons and noxious liquid substances, any solid residues and other materials. It applies also for prevention measures against water pollution during downloading and uploading of hydrocarbons, fuel supply operations to vessels and air pollution prevention under the Environment Law, approved by Law No. 5/98. This Regulation is divided as follows: General provisions (Chap. I); Pollution prevention from Hydrocarbons (Chap. II); Pollution prevention from noxious liquid substances (Chap. III); Pollution prevention from sanitary water discharge of vessels and platforms (Chap. IV); Pollution prevention from solid wastes (Chap. V); Pollution prevention from any waste into the sea (Chap. VI); Preventing measures against water pollution during hydrocarbons download and upload operations (Chap. VII); Preventing measures for fuel supply operations to vessels (Chap. VIII); Preventing measures for air pollution by vessels (Chap. IX).
