Presidential Decree No. 208/24 creating the National Council for the Protection of Forests and Wildlife, and approving its Regulation.

This Presidential Decree creates the National Council for the Protection of Forests and Wildlife (CNPFFS), and approves its Regulation. This Regulation aims to establish the rules for the organization and operation of the CNPFFS with regard to the coordination of measures for the protection and exploitation of forests and wild fauna. The CNPFFS has the following duties: a) Facilitate dialogue and social consultation on sustainable forest and wildlife management; b) Promote measures to prevent and control all activities that contribute to the emission of carbon dioxide and the climate change, in particular deforestation, uncontrolled forest fires; c) Promote measures on the production, processing, circulation and marketing of forestry and wildlife products; d) Promote research, scientific investigation and extension in the field of forests and wildlife; e) Promote the integration of gender, local communities and young people, technological innovation, forestry and wildlife; f) Promote the participation of the stakeholders in the participatory management of forests and wildlife; g) Monitor the implementation of related public policies; h) Guide the adjustment of the National Policy on Forests, Wildlife and Conservation Areas, as well as forestry legislation, in accordance with the country's socio-economic development; i) Support the functioning of the Provincial and Municipal Committees of the National Council for the Protection of Forests and Wildlife, etc.
