Presidential Decree No. 282/20 approving the Hydrocarbon Exploration Strategy from 2020 to 2025.

This Presidential Decree approves the Hydrocarbon Exploration Strategy in Angola from 2020 to 2025. This Strategy is in line with one of the objectives of the National Development Plan 2018-2022 and which envisages boosting and intensifying the replacement of reserves, aiming to mitigate the decline in hydrocarbon production, and ensuring the development of an intense exploration activity. In addition, it aims at ensuring the allocation of oil concessions, materializing in the availability and accessibility to the areas that constitute the sedimentary basins of Angola for research and evaluation activities, in the expansion of geological knowledge and in the access to oil and natural gas resources. It also aims at ensuring the successful execution of the general strategy of attribution of oil concessions in Angola, in the intensification of research and evaluation in concessions and free areas in all the sedimentary basins of Angola, all with the purpose of expanding the geological knowledge of the country and its oil potential, including unconventional reservoirs, to foster competition in the Oil Industry and Risk Investment, from promote direct investment in the National Petroleum Industry by disseminating knowledge, technological innovation and universally accepted governance practices, and the National Concessionaire must create mechanisms aimed at the acquisition of seismic data that will allow the realization of joint studies with oil companies and universities.
