Abstract
This Presidential Decree approves the Management Measures for Angola's Fishing Fleet. Within the framework of policies for the sustainable development of the fishing sector, the Executive made it a priority to reformulate and restructure the fishing fleet by approving measures for the management of the Angolan fishing fleet, the aim of which is to adapt the capacity of licensed vessels to the biological, economic and social challenges currently affecting the country's fishing sector. These Management Measures are of paramount importance for good fisheries governance, strengthening local capacity, promoting the licensing of Angolan-flagged vessels and encouraging the training and capacity-building of local fishers and operators. Such an approach reduces dependence on foreign vessels and contributes to retaining revenue in the country, in line with the Executive's guidelines, and represents a commitment to legality, environmental sustainability and the development of fishing communities.
