Resolution No. 22/09 approving the Executive Programme for the Water Sector for 2009.

This Resolution approves the Executive Programme for the Water Sector for 2009. The general objectives of the Government in the field of water are: a) satisfy the water needs induced by the process of national reconstruction and economic and social development of the Country; b) rational use national of water resources; c) provide a quality service through a process of institutional reform and reorganization, and ensuring the sustainability of the activity; d) promote the training of personnel. The specific objectives are: a) satisfy the population's needs for drinking water and adequate wastewater sanitation services, through the recovery and increase of existing capacities, in order to expand the level of coverage, as recommended in the Sector Development Programme of the Waters; b) ensure that operators' operating costs are covered, through an adequate tariff system that protects the most vulnerable population groups; c) ensure a correct management of the systems through the systematization of operation and maintenance; d) install small community water systems and points for supply in peri-urban and rural areas; e) ensure the integrated management of water resources and promote the creation of adequate structures for priority basin management; f) promote the permanent training of personnel in the sector.
