Abstract
This Resolution approves for ratification the Declaration on Youth Development and Empowerment in the Southern African Development Community (SADC). The Heads of State and Government of the SADC Community adopted the Declaration on Youth Development and Empowerment in SADC in August 2015 in Gaberone, Republic of Botswana. This Declaration is aligned with the African Youth Charter, adopted by the Conference of Heads of State and Government on 2 March 2006, as a legal instrument that places African youth at the centre of the development of African Union member countries. The African Youth Charter recommends that States Parties adopt multi-sectoral policies that cover education, skills development, poverty eradication and the socio-economic integration of youth.
