Abstract
This Resolution approves, for accession, the Treaty on the Conservation and Sustainable Management of Forest Ecosystems in Central Africa, consisting of 31 articles divided into six Titles. In addition, it creates the Commission on Forests of Central Africa. The States Parties to this Treaty, in the context of conservation and sustainable management of forest ecosystems in Central Africa, undertake to: Inscribe in their national priorities the conservation and sustainable management of forests, as well as the management of the environment; Adopt harmonized national policies on forests and accelerate the introduction of instruments for regulating the exploitation of forests; Putting in place measures aimed at reconciling actions in favour of conservation and sustainable management of forest ecosystems; Establish, lasting mechanisms for financing the development of the Forestry Sector; etc. For the execution of this Treaty, an international sub-regional organization “Commission on Forests of Central Africa” is created, (COMIFAC). COMIFAC is an organization charged with guiding, harmonizing and monitoring forestry and environmental policies in Central Africa.
