Abstract
This Act aims to protect Carinthia’s alpine pastures and grazing lands by preventing serious harm caused by wolves, while supporting sustainable land management, viable agriculture, and the preservation of traditional cultural landscapes in line with the Alpine Convention and European Union directives. The Act defines key terms (such as pastures, grazing lands, livestock, and problem wolves), allows the government to designate "protection zones" where conventional protections for wolves may be suspended, and outlines procedures for deterring or, under strict conditions, lethally removing wolves that threaten livestock. It specifies reporting requirements, monitoring of wolf populations, mandatory cooperation from landowners and stakeholders, and integrates relevant EU regulations and legal requirements, ensuring that control of wolf populations does not endanger their favorable conservation status. The text consists of 10 Articles.
