Abstract
The Ordinance focuses on the implementation of a new regulation concerning the deposit system for single use beverage containers made of plastic and metal in Austria. Its main objectives are to enhance recycling rates, reduce environmental impact, and comply with EU directives aimed at minimizing waste from certain plastic products. The implementation plan outlines the establishment of a non-profit central entity responsible for managing the collection, recycling, and financial aspects of the deposit system. This entity will be tasked with setting producer contributions based on the type of material used, ensuring transparency in cost allocation, and developing an effective control mechanism for compliance among producers and return obligations. Additionally, the regulation emphasizes the importance of public awareness campaigns to educate consumers about proper disposal practices and the significance of the deposit system. The text contains 27 Articles and one Annex on symbol of deposit refund.
