Abstract
The present Act introduces some substantial amendments to the Radiation Protection Act (BGBl. Ino. 227/1969). Article 36b in the Table of Contents shall read "Principles for the disposal of radioactive waste; National Waste Management Programme". Moreover, the Act amends article 1 concerning the transposition of EU directives into Austrian legislation, such as Council Directive 2003/122/Euratom on the control of high-activity sealed radioactive sources and orphan sources; Council Directive 96/29/Euratom laying down basic safety standards for the protection of the health of workers and the general public against the dangers arising from ionizing radiation; Directive 2001/42/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council on the assessment of the effects of certain plans and programmes on the environment.
