Abstract
An Ordinance to regulate the general hygiene of foodstuffs. It defines at the outset its scope of application. Article 2 contains a definition clause relating to various terms therein employed, such as "food hygiene", "food processing plants", etc. The owner of a food producing plant must comply with the prescriptions set out in this Ordinance. Therefore, the person entitled must set up a HACCP-system (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point System). The Ordinance consists of 5 articles and 1 Annex laying down in detail general hygienic requirements, specific hygienic requirements, transportation of foodstuffs, water used in the production of foodstuffs, hygienic requirementes for personnel, training courses, etc.

This Ordinance repeals the Ordinance on Food Containers (BGBl. No. 313/1986).An Ordinance (BGBl. II No. 33/1999) amends the above-mentioned Food Hygiene Ordinance (BGBl. No. II 31/1998). The amendment concerns the addition of a sentence to the Annex, chapter IV, point 2(b) dealing with transportation of raw sugar.The present Ordinance is consolidated as of 13/2006.
