Abstract
The present Ordinance by the Federal Minister for Health and Women introduces the Directive 2002/46/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council on the approximation of the laws of the Member States relating to food supplements into Austrian national legislation. For the purpose of the said Ordinance vitamins and mineral substances are to be considered as food supplements. These products shall be delivered to the ultimate consumer only in a prepackaged form. Annex 1 specifies the vitamin and mineral substances which may be used when manufacturing food supplements. On the other hand Annex 2 lays down the vitamin and mineral substances which may be used when manufacturing food supplements. Details of packaging and labelling are contained in articles 3 to 5. The text consists of 7 articles and 2 Annexes.
