Abstract
The present Act lays down provisions relating to the inspection of animals before and after slaughtering. Article 1 establishes that cattle, pigs, sheep, goats, horses and other animals – if their meat is destined for human consumption – are before and after slaughtering subject to an official control and assessment. The Act consists of 55 articles divided into 13 Parts as follows: General provisions (I); Meat control bodies (II); Inspection proceedings (III); Assessment and marking (IV); Hygienic precautions (V); Periodical inspections (VI); Inspection of imported animals and meat (VII); Veterinary control number (VIII); Protocol (IX); Expiry (X); Costs (XI); Penalties (XII); Transitional and final provisions (XIII).
