Renewable Heat Act – EWG.

The Act objective is to promote the use of renewable energy sources for heating and hot water, thereby reducing reliance on fossil fuels and contributing to climate protection goals. The Act prohibits the construction of heating systems powered by fossil fuels in new buildings, emphasizing the necessity for quality,assured district heating systems. It mandates that at least 80% of the heat supplied must originate from renewable sources or high efficiency cogeneration. Additionally, the Act establishes criteria for areas designated as having quality assured district heating, ensuring that buildings can be economically and technically connected to these systems.
