Abstract
A regional Ordinance to protect animals in slaughterhouses. It consists of 13 articles and 5 Annexes. The Ordinance contains at the outset a definition clause relating to various terms therein employed, such as "slaughterhouses", "killing", "slaughtering", etc. Article 3 establishes the underlying principles, i.e., when put to death, animals should be spared sufferances. Slaughterhouses should be geared towards this end. Moreover, personnel of slaughterhouses should be well qualified to carry out their work. The Ordinance consists of 13 articles and 5 Annexes: Requirements for transportation of animals to slaughterhouses (1); Treatment of animals before slaughtering (2); Slaughtering of animals except of fur-bearing animals (3); Treatment of animals after slaughtering (4); Killing sick animals (5).
