The Soil Quality Ordinance of Vorarlberg regulates the protection and sustainable use of soil, especially in the context of applying materials like compost, sludge, or ash to agricultural or landscaped areas. It defines different soil types, outlines acceptable contamination limits (e.g. for heavy metals, plastics), and sets requirements for sampling, testing, and documentation. The regulation prescribes strict quality and safety standards for materials like sewage sludge compost and requires regular testing of both soils and materials before and after application.
