Abstract
The Act regulates viticulture in the Steiermark region, focusing on quality-oriented grape cultivation and winemaking. It establishes the legal framework for vineyard planting, replanting, and uprooting, including rules on approved vine varieties and procedures for new plantings and plantings after agrarian operations. The law mandates a comprehensive vineyard registry, data reporting obligations, and enforcement measures with penalties for violations such as unauthorized plantings or failure to provide accurate data. Special provisions cover trial plantings, classification of grape varieties, and vineyard site assessments considering location, slope, and frost risk. The Act aligns with EU regulations on common market organization and provides a transitional framework for existing planting rights and new regulatory amendments. The text consists of 23 Articles.
