Abstract
The Styrian Animal Disease Fund Act 2024 establishes a dedicated Animal Disease Fund as a special-purpose financial resource managed by the provincial government of Styria. Its primary purpose is to provide financial aid for livestock losses caused by animal epidemics or other animal diseases and to finance preventive or control measures related to such outbreaks. Contributions to the fund are mandatory for livestock owners recorded in the veterinary register as of January 1 each year, with contribution rates set by government regulation according to animal type, risk of disease, and projected funding requirements. The fund’s resources consist of these contributions, compensation payments assigned to the province under federal A, and additional public or private contributions. The Act consists of 10 Articles.
