Abstract
This Act provides for the use, application and sale of agricultural and veterinary chemical products, fertilizers and stock foods and the manufacture of fertilizers and stock foods in the State of Victoria. The purposes of this Act include protecting the public health, the environment, the welfare of animals, regulating internal and external trade, ensuring uniformity in labelling and regulating the transport, handling and sale of agricultural produce, fertilizers and stock food.
The Act consists of 78 sections divided into ten Parts, and contains provisions on the use of unregistered chemical products (Part 2), labelling (Part 3), restrictions and prohibitions on manufacture, sale and use of chemicals for agricultural and veterinary purposes (Part 4), controls over the spraying of agricultural chemicals products (Part 6), controls over contaminated land, stock and agricultural produce (Part 7), powers of auhtorized officers, inspections, offences and enforcement (Parts 8 and 9).
The Act further provides for the establishment of the Victorian Agricultural Chemicals Advisory Committee to advise the chief administrator on regulation and control of the application of agricultural chemical products. The Act is completed by one schedule that contains additional provisions on permits, certificates and licences.
