Abstract
Regulations made under the Antarctic Marine Living Resources Conservation Act.
The Regulations are divided into 3 Parts: Preliminary (1); Permits under subsection 9(1) of the Act (2); Entry into CEMP sites (3).
Regulation 4 (Part 2) prescribes that acts that would contravene a conservation measure set out in the Schedule to these Regulations shall not be authorized in a permit issued under subsection 9(1) of the Act. Provisions of Part 3 make provision for the issue of permits to enter monitoring sites established for purposes of the Ecosystem Monitoring Program conducted by the Parties to the Convention or for which a management plan has been adopted by the Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources.
The Schedule contains various conservation measures adopted by the Commission with respect to mesh size for specified fish, monthly catch and reporting system, net monitor cables, minimization of mortality of birds in longline fishing, and other matters. (12 regulations completed by one Schedule)
