Abstract
The Bardi Aborigines Association Inc. By-laws were established under the Aboriginal Communities Act 1979 and apply to community land designated by the Governor. These regulations govern the conduct of individuals on community land, outlining permissions, offenses, and penalties. Entry to community land requires prior consent from the Council, which has the authority to set conditions or revoke permission. Provisions also address traffic management, malicious damage, littering, offensive behavior, alcohol use, and disruptions to meetings. The Council may impose restrictions on alcohol and prosecute violations of by-laws, with penalties including fines and compensation for damages. A defense based on acting under customary law is recognized.
