Abstract
The Parties agree that is essential that they cooperate to ensure the conservation and maximum utilisation of the fish species southern bluefin tuna (thunnus maccoyi). The objective of the Convention is expressed in these terms in article 3. The Parties establish a Commission for the Conservation of Southern Bluefin Tuna under article 6. The Commission shall collect and accumulate information set out in article 9. A Scientific Committee is established under article 9. The Committee shall act as advisory body to the Commission. Remaining provisions of this Convention deal with budgetary matters (art. 11), collaboration with other intergovernmental organizations (art. 12), accession by other States (art. 13), observers of other States (art. 14), communications to other States relative to fishing activities of its nationals (art. 15), dispute resolution (art. 16), miscellaneous matters (arts. 17-22). The Annex contains rules relative to an arbitral tribunal to be created if Parties wish to resort to arbitration under paragraph 3 of article 16.
