Abstract
This Act, consisting of 142 sections divided into twelve Parts and twelve Schedules, provides for the requirements to produce, use and trade in Drugs, Poisons and Controlled Substances.
This Act and related regulations establish persons authorized to use poisons or controlled substances, specifying that any registered medical practitioner, pharmacist, veterinary practitioner is authorized to obtain and have in his possession and to use, sell or supply any poison or controlled substance (except those listed in Schedule 1) or drug of dependence in the lawful practice of his profession as a registered medical practitioner, pharmacist, veterinary practitioner, etc. The Committee must consult with a nominee of the Minister administering the Agricultural and Veterinary Chemicals (Control of Use) Act 1992 on any issue relating to agricultural and veterinary chemicals.
