Abstract
This Act, consisting of 14 Parts, provides for the safety of electricity supply and use, the reliability and security of electricity supply, and for the efficiency of electrical equipment. The Act defines the objectives and the functions of the Energy Safe Victoria, established under the Energy Safe Victoria Act 2005.
The Act further provides for: the registration of electrical contractors; licensing of electrical workers; electrical installation works; installation of electric lines on public land; establishment of an Equipment Advisory Committee; energy efficiency; underground electric lines; bushfire mitigation requirements for certain operators and electric line clearance; electricity safety management; etc.
