Abstract
The objects of this Act, consisting of 14 Parts and one Schedule, include the following: (a) to ensure food for sale is both safe and suitable for human consumption; (b) to prevent misleading conduct in connection with the sale of food; and (c) to provide for the application of the Food Standards Code in the Territory. It comprises 145 Sections divided into the following Parts: Preliminary (I); Interpretation (II); Offences relating to food (III); Administration (IV); Emergency powers (V); Powers of entry, inspection and seizure (VI); Registration of food business (VII); Taking and analysis of samples (VIII); Improvement notices (IX); Prohibition orders (X); Procedure and evidentiary matters (XI); Miscellaneous (XII) and Repeal, savings and transitional provisions (XIII).
