Abstract
Part 2 of the Forest Practices Code applies to all timber harvesting operations conducted in all native forests under the control of State Forests of New South Wales and constitutes a condition of every Timber, Products, Contractors and Operators Licence and Sale Agreement. This Code is binding on all parties and individuals involved in the management and practice of obtaining timber or timber products from State forests and Crown Timber Lands.
The Code provides for licensing discipline (all timber harvesting operations must be authorised by a Timber Licence or Products Licence that contains conditions that are binding on the licensees, the conditions commonly attached to licenses are set out in Appendix 3); establishes licensee's and merchandising contractors responsibilities for control of operations and for the conduct of contractors and operators engaged by them; lays down the discipline on harvest compliance and performance, incident, prosecution, etc; considers Safety, Fire Precaution, Wet weather control, Pollution Control, Fauna and Flora management; recognizes the responsibility of State Forests for the planning and management of all harvesting operations on State forests and other Crown Timber Lands; and other aspects related to tree marking, timber extraction, log dumps, tree falling, etc.
