Abstract
The objects of the establishment of the Corporation are: (a) to improve the efficiency and competitiveness of Australian horticultural industries; (b) to develop in Australian horticultural industries an awareness of the contribution that can be made by horticultural research and development in improving their efficiency and competitiveness; (c) to further the sustainable use and sustainable management of natural resources; (d) to increase the economic, environmental and social benefits to members of the Australian horticultural industries and the community in general by improving the production, processing, storage, transport and marketing of the products of horticultural industries; and (e) to ensure sound accountability for expenditure on horticultural research and development. The functions of the Corporation include: (a) to investigate and evaluate the requirements for horticultural research and development and, on the basis of such investigation and evaluation and to prepare a research and development plan under section 26; and (b) to carry out, and coordinate and fund the carrying out of, horticultural research and development projects.
