Abstract
This Regulation applies to all protected areas except to the extent a provision of this regulation states that it does or does not apply to a particular class of protected area. However, this Regulation does not apply to a private coordinated conservation area except to the extent a provision of this regulation states that it does apply to the area. This Regulation does not apply to an animal or plant that is not in a protected area. This Regulation does not apply to the following activities on land in a resources reserve: (a)an activity conducted under a mineral authority or petroleum authority on land covered by the authority; (b)an activity that is camping or fossicking under the Fossicking Act 1994. Chapter II concerns Management of protected areas; each conservation park mentioned in schedule 1, column 1 must be managed by the trustee of the park. Part 2 regulates permitted uses in national parks. Part 3 concerns regulatory notices, camping notices and declarations; these include declaration of restricted access area, of prescribed commercial activity, or special activity. Part 4 regulates other activities, such as: taking fish, invertebrates and mud crabs in protected areas; apiary areas and apiary permits for national parks; mustering etc.
Chapter 3 authorises persons to take, use, keep or interfere with the cultural or natural resources of particular protected areas in particular circumstances; and provides for additional matters the chief executive must consider for the grant of resources permits or apiary permits; and provides for restrictions on the grant of those permits by the chief executive. Chapter 4 authorises persons to conduct particular activities for accessing or using particular protected areas; and provides for additional matters the chief executive must consider for the grant of activity permits; and provides for restrictions on the grant of activity permits by the chief executive; and states requirements for keeping records and returns of operation for particular commercial activity and organised event permits.
