Abstract
This Act, consisting of 108 sections divided into six Parts and completed by two Schedules, makes provision for the declaration and notification of pests and diseases, and for the declaration of quarantine areas, control areas, protected areas and infected areas.
The Act consist of 6 Parts: Preliminary (I); Declaration and notification of pests and diseases (II); Pest and disease control (III); Inspectors (IV); Importation and quarantine (V); Miscellaneous (VI).
The possession of pests and diseases shall be prohibited unless in possession of a written permission of the Secretary or an inspector. The Secretary shall also issue permits authorizing the movement into and out of infected, controlled, protected or quarantine areas of any prescribed matter.
The Act further provides for: appointment of inspectors and their functions and powers; importation of prohibited or restricted plant and plant products; fees, costs and compensation; offences and penalties; etc.
