Abstract
This Regulation, consisting of 72 sections divided into seven Parts and completed by two Schedules, implements the Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997 by providing specifications on noise control and acoustic pollution originating from the use of motor vehicles and their accessories and equipment, including: cars, vessels, air conditioning systems, grass-cutting machines and intruder alarms. The Regulation addresses the following themes: motor vehicle and motor vehicle accessories (Part 2), marine vessels and their requirements to control noise (Part 3). Part 5 of the Regulation provides for the enforcement through defective vehicle or vessel notices. Part 6 specifies the determination of noise levels. The final object of this Regulation is to repeal and remake, with minor amendments, the provisions of the Protection of the Environment Operations (Noise Control) Regulation 2008. The Regulation establishes offences and maximum penalty for corporations and for individuals performing illegal activities.
