Abstract
The Seafood Safety Regulations 2024 (S.R. No. 87/2024) establish exemptions from the requirement to obtain a seafood licence under Part 3 of the Act for specific seafood business activities. Exemptions apply to businesses dealing with live yabbies, abalone, and rock lobster, provided the activities are conducted under relevant licences or permits issued pursuant to the Fisheries Act 1995. The exempted activities include aquaculture, harvesting, collecting, maintaining live seafood for processing, and packaging, storing, or transporting for either processing or retail sale (in the case of yabbies).
