Abstract
This Act, consisting of 76 sections divided into eight Parts, promotes the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by establishing the Victorian Energy Efficiency Target scheme which provides for the creation and acquisition of energy efficiency certificates and requires the surrender of energy efficiency certificates.
The Act aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, to encourage the efficient use of electricity and gas, and to encourage investment, employment and technology development in industries that supply goods and services which reduce the use of electricity and gas by consumers.
Entry into force notes
This Act enters into force on 1 January 2009.
