Abstract
This Act promotes the development of renewable energy generation through the establishment of a scheme that provides for the creation and acquisition of renewable energy certificates and requires the surrender of renewable energy certificates.
The Act aims to encourage additional generation of electricity from renewable energy sources, to encourage investment in the generation of renewable energy and the development of renewable energy technologies, to contribute to the diversity of Victoria's energy supplies, and to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases.
Entry into force notes
This Act enters into force on 1 January 2007.
