Abstract
The Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 is organised in eight Parts and 2 Schedules. The Act regulates the discipline concerning people that engage in a regulated activity or service with a vulnerable person. Vulnerable person under the Act is either a child or a disadvantage person accessing certain services due to the disadvantage.
Schedule 1, among the regulated activities and services lists: services for Migrants, refugees and asylum seekers, housing and community services to support people and families suffering social or financial hardship, disability services that provide for instance food and employment services.
The Act establishes requirements for registrations, process for applying, and conditions to share protected information.
