Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the Republic of Türkiye on cooperation in the field of water management.

Both parties agree on developing and expanding socio-economic programs that can be useful and effective in promoting the efficient use of water resources, ensuring water and food security for both parties. The purpose of this Agreement is to expand and develop cooperation in the field of water between the Parties. The areas of cooperation are, as follows: (i) development of water and land resources; (ii) preparation of topographic maps and bathymetric mapping studies in reservoirs and natural lakes; (iii) water resources digitization studies; (iv) application of innovative technologies and innovations in the design and construction of water facilities; (v) improvement and operation of irrigation systems; (vi) introduction of modern irrigation systems;; (vii) improving water management plans on a basin basis; and (viii) all types of advisory and supervisory services related to the above mentioned activities. The Parties may make amendments to this Agreement by mutual written consent. The disagreement may be solved through negotiation and consultations. This Agreement shall be valid for five years and may be extended for successive period of five years unless terminated by written notice requiring 90 days through diplomatic channels.
